About Us

Red Dirt is a girls competitive club that is active only in the summer and fall. Coaches on this team are hand selected for their coaching skills and they coach only girls. They are not boys coaches that moonlight as girls coaches. We know girls lacrosse and specialize in the understanding what it takes to be a successful girls lacrosse player at all ages.

We offer several levels of program because we understand that players come with different needs, different levels of availability and different goals. Please see the program offerings below based upon age to see if any fit your needs. And if you don’t find one that fits exactly, please contact the director at 918-520-1642. It’s quite possible that we can custom build a program to fit your calendar and pocket book. Our goal is to never turn a player away that has the desire and drive to learn.

Kindergarten thru 6th Grade – Lacrosse Only

This program is open to any youth lacrosse player that is entering Kindergarten thru 6th grade in the fall and wants to participate in a lacrosse summer skills only. Players will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm beginning June 6th through July 30th. This program will be taught by a variety of coaches, all of which have experience either coaching girls lacrosse, playing girls lacrosse or both.

5th thru 8th Grade – Performance Training + Lacrosse

We also offer an option that includes full performance training using the Sports Armory gym, followed by in depth lacrosse skills training. This group will do an hour of performance training from 5:30 – 6:30 pm beginning June 6th through July 30th. Players will then come to the field right behind Sports Armory for an hour of lacrosse skills. We will also have three Saturday lacrosse only practices on 6/11, 6/18 and 6/25. This group will be coached by Emma Albin with assistance from other coaches.

High School – Performance Training + Lacrosse

For High School, we offer summer sessions that includes full performance training using the Sports Armory gym, followed by in depth lacrosse skills training. This group will do an hour of performance training from 6:30 – 7:30 pm beginning June 7th through July 30th. Players will then come to the field right behind Sports Armory for an hour of lacrosse skills. We will also have three Saturday lacrosse only practices on 6/11, 6/18 and 6/25.

Why Performance Training?

This approach is the best way to develop the whole athlete as well as allowing players to strengthen proper muscles which aids in injury prevention.

Our performance training is done through a partnership with Sports Armory. You can read more about the Sports Armory trainers and program here: https://thesportsarmory.com/about/

By having the players work out with performance training first and then coming to the lacrosse field “tired”, we are able to replicate game fatigue. When players learn lacrosse skills in a state where their bodies and minds are already engaged, muscle memory takes over allowing the lacrosse skills taught to become cemented quicker without the worry of players over analyzing or second guessing what they are doing. This is the absolute best way to get players able to think and function in a game mode all the time.

Tournaments

Travel tournaments are offered and encouraged for players in 5th grade and up. You can see the tournament options for the summer and fall on our tournament page: https://reddirtlacrosse.com/tournaments/

Red Dirt players are Family

We focus on training the whole athlete, and love multi-sport players. Ethics and good sportsmanship are our trademarks and we work hard to be remembered as a “clean” team where ever we play.

We also believe in being an extended family for our players and their parents. Our girls come from many different schools around the state of Oklahoma but when they play each other in the spring season, its like a family reunion each week.
